I like taking photos. I probably don’t take enough, but here are some of my favorites from random places and times.

Coachella 2007 Day 3

thank you

Day 1 and day 2 at Coachella were very good, but day 3 is why I was there. I achieved one of my life's goals that day -- I saw Rage Against The Machine live. You might call that a small goal, but after they broke up a couple of years ago I feared I might not ever get that chance. Rage reunited, played a kick ass show, and I was there.

There were other great reasons to show up at day 3 of Coachella. Explosions In The Sky, my favorite band from Austin, showed up as did Air and The Roots. Check the vids and photos below for a taste of what it was like.

Coachella 2007 Day 2

Coachella day 2, like day 1, was filled with music and more music. Day 2 was the day of panoramic photos; I took tons of photos and stitched them together into panoramas with some software. Red Hot Chili Peppers was the big act this day, though The Decemberists put on a good show as did Arcade Fire.

Coachella 2007 Day 1

I went to Coachella, the mega music (and arts) festival held in Indio, California. It was three days of baking in the sun, drinking insane amounts of liquids, and watching some of the best bands ever perform for tens of thousands in the desert. It was awesome.

Day one of Coachella featured Bjork and lots of other bands I wasn't so psyched about seeing. And since it was my first day, I spent plenty of time taking pictures of the grounds to capture the moment. I also caught the last few minutes of DJ Shadow's act.

Zombie Mob 2k7

Two San Francisco traditions -- Critical Mass, the monthly street-clogging bike ride through the city, and Zombie Mob, a flash mob of zombies infesting San Francisco -- occurred on the same day a little while ago. Fortunately, yours truly was there among the dozens of other photographers and videographers to archive the event for the ages.

Me in Florida

It's taken me a while to dig through the several hundred photos and dozens of videos I've taken over the past few months. I even took the (laborious) step of converting all the videos to flash so it should work for most of y'all without trouble.

In February and between jobs, I went on vacation in central Florida to visit a good friend and stop thinking for a few days. While I was there, I went to Cocoa Beach for an afternoon of sun and relaxing. Here's a few highlights

Taos Aelthing 2007

When I went to the camping goods store to buy a new "base layer" ("long underwear" to the rest of us), I found myself browsing through some of the thickest, warmest clothes I've ever seen. The clerk quipped, "ah, arctic thickness. Headed to somewhere cold?"

"Yep," I replied. It was a brisk 0 degrees Fahrenheit in New Mexico on the weekend that I attended Taos Aelthing 2007. Not even my arctic-wear could prepare me for such cold weather, to say nothing of the eating or drinking or feats of strength and mind. This was also the first trip I took with my new camera, the Canon SD800, so now I can make videos too. Click the image for the album, or try the links below for some highlights.

All in all, a great weekend.

Santarchy 2006

Only a month after it happened, I finally got my Santarchy pics online. For those of you unfamiliar with the tradition, Santarchy (or Santacon) is an annual tradition where hundreds of Santas come out of hiding to gather together for a debaucheristic tour of their respective cities. This year's SF Santarchy started at historic, touristy Pier 39, famous for the sea lions that sun themselves under tourists' watchful lenses

Join me and my friends through this years Santarchy celebration by clicking the photo below. And when you're done with those, try Krista's photos of the same day.

After all, Santa needs a drink.

Another journey to Texas

I went to the South by Southwest 2006 Interactive conference and followed that up with some much needed vacation time. I think I took more photos then I ever have. A friend recently reminded me that photos tell stories. This trip was certainly full of stories, so kick back with a Flaming Moe and start clicking through these photos...

My friend comes to town

Jessica came out here for a few days. We had fun. Here's a brief look at her vacation.

Dave gives himself a haircut

The gardener mistook my hair for a shrub...

Sometimes this mop of a head of mine needs trimming. This is an in-depth look at the process of cutting my hair. Photos by me. Haircutting by me. Sass by a little red demon sitting on my shoulder that nobody but me can see. For future reference, I used a number 4 guard (1/2") with my clippers.
