Meez - Usability Fixes

Meez users often asked how to post their Meez onto their MySpace page (or their social network of choice). In response and with some free developer cycles we had in a release, I designed some changes to the export process to make that a bit easier.

I had our developers incorporate Gigya's Wildfire tool into our export process. Wildfire is a quick-to-embed system for quickly sending content from your site directly onto your social network profile page. I also had the developers incorporate a copy-to-clipboard button for the text fields on our export pages. From Technorati search, I noticed that many users who put a Meez on their blog mis-copied the HTML, causing the Meez not to appear, making us look bad; the copy-to-clipboard button significantly reduced copy errors on blog posts after we launched these changes.

Pictured here are mockups I made of the modified pages. In particular, I made these changes:

  • Changed the link colors consistent with the site palette
  • Moved the "download" button next to the pulldown that controls the download
  • Copy changes in the vernacular of our users (like "codes")
  • Copy to clipboard button (using SWF and JS)
  • Incorporated Gigya's Wildfire tool
